Napoli has officially announced the signing of Dutch central defender Sam Beukema from Bologna in a permanent transfer deal reportedly worth around €30 million, with additional performance-related bonuses. Beukema, 26 years old, has signed a five-year contract lasting until 2030, earning approximately €3 million per season in wages.
The 188 cm tall defender is known for his defensive solidity, leadership, and excellent ball distribution skills. He played 80 matches for Bologna over the last two seasons, including all eight Champions League games in Bologna’s historic European campaign. Beukema is recognized as one of Serie A’s top defenders in terms of completed passes, behind only Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Evan Ndicka during the last two seasons.
This signing is Napoli’s fifth major acquisition of the summer, following the arrivals of Kevin De Bruyne, Luca Marianucci, Noa Lang, and Lorenzo Lucca. Napoli’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis was the first to announce the move, underscoring the club’s ambition to strengthen the squad defensively as they prepare to defend their Serie A title and compete in Europe.
Beukema’s experience, consistency, and ball-playing abilities make him a valuable addition to Antonio Conte’s tactical setup, promising to bolster Napoli’s backline depth and quality for the 2025-26 season.
